On 26th January Ilia Papandreou gave her ovation-celebrated debut at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg as interpreter of the title role in Richard Strauss' opera Ariadne auf Naxos. Under the musical direction of GMD Enrico Calesso and directed by Dominique Horwitz, Ilia Papandreou performed in a Strauss opera for the first time since her debut as Marschallin.
As Princess Jaroslawna in Alexander Borodin's rarely heard opera Prince Igor, Ilia Papandreou made her successful debut at the Anhalt Theater in Dessau in May and June, adding another Russian soprano role to her extensive repertoire.
In the concertante performances with the Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau under the musical direction of Kapellmeisterin Elisa Gogou the audience and critics were very enthusiastic:
With the title role in Luigi Cherubini's "Medea", Ilia Papandreou returned to the Erfurt theatre in November 2017, thus "adding another triumph to her career" (Thueringer Allgemeine, November 13, 2017). In 2017, the world looked back on 500 years of Reformation. The actor, singer and director Dominique Horwitz together with Ilia Papandreou premiered his Revue "Reformhaus Lutter" as a commission piece for the Westdeutscher Rundfunk Köln as part of the celebration of the Luther Year. Also in attendance were the WDR Radio House Orchestra and the WDR Radio Choir Cologne. The overall musical direction was in the hands of Rasmus Baumann.

In the season 2016/2017, Ilia Papandreou again was celebrated in outstanding music theater productions.
Recently celebrated as Brunehild (Sigurd) and Marguerite (Faust) in the French subject, Ilia Papandreou once again thrilled in the Russian opera subject as interpreter of the title role in Tchaikovsky's rarely heard opera Iolanta. Ilia Papandreou returned to the Erfurt Theater as a guest with this concertante performance.

Ilia Papandreou was nominated as "Female Singer of the Year" for her interpretation of Desdemona in Giuseppe Verdi's Otello in the current Opernwelt critics' poll. She had given her celebrated and much-acclaimed debut in May this year at the Erfurt theater.
